As we begin the new year, please take a moment to remember those we lost from our community in 2020 and also give thanks for the blessings we have. We as a community are blessed in many ways and as we start 2021, we will continue to need our community involvement to be “Topsail Beach Strong”. We can see an end to the COVID-19 virus; however, we need to continue to protect our neighbors and family by wearing a mask inside buildings and outside unless you are eating or with your immediate family.
As a community we are moving to Phase 1b for the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are a first responder or at least 75 years old (regardless of health status) you are eligible to receive the vaccine now. The health department will be offering vaccinations at the Annex in Hampstead all day on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Please call the Pender County Health Department (910-259-1230) to schedule an appointment. They will not accept walk-ins. Those who have had the COVID-19 virus within the last 30 days are not eligible at this time.
It has taken almost 4 weeks to move from Phase 1a to Phase 1b for obtaining the vaccine, so those waiting for Phase 2 & 3 please be patient. We continue to ask all to please follow the 3W’s – Wear, Wash & Wait. Everyone should be wearing a mask, even if you have had the virus or have received the vaccine. We will continue to send out updates and keep you informed of progress of the COVID-19 vaccine administration. One of our current concerns is ensuring all who may need a hospital bed regardless of accident or illness will have the proper space available. So please do your part and continue to wear a mask. Protect yourself, your friends, and your family.
