Governor Cooper’s office announced today that North Carolina will expand its coronavirus vaccine protocols, offering shots to people ages 65 and up. If you meet that criteria, you may call the Pender County Health Department (910-259-1230 option #1) to get on a wait list for an appointment. The State has been allocated a limited supply of vaccines to divide between all the Counties in NC. The Pender County Health Department continues to work hard to vaccinate those on the wait list as the vaccinations become available. However, the wait list continues to grow daily so we ask for your patience while waiting for an appointment.
In the meantime, your best defense against the virus to practice the three w’s:
- Wear a face covering (indoors if a non-household member is present and outdoors if you are unable to maintain six (6) feet of social distance from others);
- Wait (Maintain six (6) feet of social distance from other non-household members);
- Wash (Your hands often and regularly for at least 20 seconds)
By continued and diligent practice of the three (3) W’s we can protect ourselves, our family, and our community. Together we can slow the spread of COVID.
